Quick preparation
Choice of lubricant is important
The Lubricant plays an important role in forming of the lubricating film which establishes the contact between diamonds and sample surface. Contrary to normal belief, the suspension does very little except supplying diamonds.
Water based lubricants have until now been plagued by poor corrosion protection (brown polishing cloths), foaming and poor material removal rates and in some cases high wear of the polishing cloths, but with Aka-Lube's that's a thing of the past.
Better than ethanol based lubricants
Aka-Lube surpasses all other water based lubricants, in the combination of material removal and surface finish. In some chases the material removal rate surpasses that of ethanol based lubricants with more than 50 %, and the scratch pattern is sharp, without any plowing.
Unique lubricating film
Aka-Lube owes its outstanding performance to a unique lubricating film. It is a two phase system where the particle size is in nano range. The particles are so small that they can get in between the diamond and the sample surface where they reduce friction, and aid the diamond in cutting.
Works with all surfaces
Aka-Lube has a very low surface tension, this allows Aka-Lube to spread out on any surface used for sample preparation. This increases the active surface area; thus increasing the total removal rate far above what is common with water based lubricants.
