News - 2007.
November 2007 - New bottles.
We have wished for a new style of bottles for quite some time. The polyethylene bottles have a number of disadvantages appart from looking "oldish".
Consequently all bottles are now being phased over to the crystal clear PET bottles used previously solely for the spray bottles.
Since PET bottles are not available in 300 ml Aka-Mono and Aka-Poly is downsized from 300 ml to 250 ml. The product numbers are the same and price has been lowered accordingly.
October 2007 - DiaMaxx: old wine on new bottles.
There has been some name confusion between DiaDoublo and DiaDoublo+. Since DiaDoublo+ really is much different from DiaDoublo we opted for a total different name.
Therefore DiaDoublo+ changes name to DiaMaxx a boldly name reflecting the increased performance over DiaDoublo.
DiaMaxx is in fact not a new name as it has been in use in the USA right from the introduction.
August 2007 - Aka-Allegran-3 flatter finish higher removal.
Aka-Allegran-3 replaces the 3 µm polishing step and keeps the specimen flat. If you have inclusions that tend to drop out, or phases that are polished away due to hardness difference, or coatings that you can't see because your specimen is not flat then you are a candidate for Aka-Allegran-3.
Aka-Allegran-3 is suitable to use on all materials above 150 Hv.
The original Aka-Allegran is now called Aka-Allegran-9 to avoid any confusion.
June 2007 - Aka-Piatto+ smoother grinding longer life.
Double the diamond concentration of the normal Aka-Piatto means much smoother grind with finer scratch pattern and much longer life.
Aka-Piatto is formulated quite aggresive to match the high removal of grinding paper. This aggresiveness is not always to an advantage especially on ceramics, cermets and hard metals it creates deep deformations.
For these preparations we have formulated Aka-Piatto+. By doubling the diamond concetration the pressure between diamond and sample is lowered significantly resulting in a much less aggresive grinding and longer life of the disc.
Aka-Piatto+ is available in the same diameters and grain sizes as the regular Aka-Piatto.
